Bimini Bound accepts donations of books and textbooks for children from pre-school age through high school. What kind of books?

fiction and non-fiction books
intact covers, binding not broken, gently used
Recently published books (text books and non-fiction titles should contain current, useful content)

What kind of books can’t be accepted?

Bimini Bound can’t accept magazines, periodicals and encyclopedias
Books in poor condition (torn, mildew, covers missing)

Bimini Bound: Books and more for Island

Bound is also sending toothpaste and toothbrushes as part of its Fall 2010 drive for the island. In addition, new pill bottles are being collected.

Whitby, Ont. Members of the Whitby community donated 6000 books to students living in Bimini, a tiny island that is part of the Bahamas, this past spring.

Bimini's three schools are to benefit from a gift of over six thousand books. A Canadian organisation in Whitby, Ontario, near Toronto, has collected and donated the books under a scheme known as "Bimini Bound."

Bimini Bound reserves the right to decline any donated book based on condition and fit with its collection criteria. Books that do not fit Bimini Bound’s collection criteria and cannot be returned to donors for whatever reason will be donated to other organizations or facilities. Books in very poor or unusable condition will be recycled. Anyone who sends email messages, photos, or other communication, by doing so, gives Bimini Bound the right to share, publish or otherwise make public such communication where such communication provides endorsement and/or support of Bimini Bound.

Bimini Bound is not a for-profit organization and relies solely on the support of volunteer individuals and organizations who see value in sharing the power of reading.
